VP Engineering
A confidential retained search for a VP of Engineering with a high-growth Australian fintech. The business is scaling and expanding its executive leadership team. You will report to the co-founder and CTO, join the ELT, and own engineering architecture and delivery.
Why this role exists
Architecture decisions still route through the founder, which constrains execution speed as the business scales. You will take the architecture decisions, run the design reviews, and own delivery so that it no longer depends on founder involvement.
The platform is built AI native, and AI context matters more in this hire than domain context. The engineering team is senior and long-tenured, so you have to be credible with it from day one.
What you will own
- The architecture of the platform and the technical direction as the business scales.
- How engineering work is planned, sequenced, shipped and measured, with AI tooling part of how the team works.
- The engineering voice in product and partner conversations where technical credibility matters.
- A senior engineering team you lead and hire for, and a contribution to company strategy as a member of the ELT.
What you will bring
- Senior engineering leadership, at VP or Head of level or equivalent, in a high-growth software or fintech business.
- Deep architecture credibility, able to own design reviews and scale a platform.
- AI-native delivery experience, with AI tooling embedded in how teams build.
- Credibility with a senior, long-tenured team from day one, with operational and management discipline alongside technical depth.
- A hands-on, in-the-detail, build mindset.
