Chief Risk and Operations Officer
A confidential retained search for a Chief Risk and Operations Officer with a high-growth Australian payments business. You will join the executive leadership team, report to the CEO, and own risk, compliance and operations across the company as it scales and expands into new markets.
Why this role exists
The functional leads for operations, risk and compliance are in place and performing. What is missing is an executive who holds risk and operations across the whole business, represents both at board level, and gives those leads somewhere to escalate.
International expansion, and the regulatory licensing that comes with it, is the defining deliverable. The function is also expected to be built AI native, with machine learning inside the operating process rather than bolted on.
What you will own
- An enterprise risk and compliance framework across every market the business operates in.
- The regulatory licensing pathway into new markets, and operational readiness in each.
- Operations across the business, from back office to customer onboarding, and the operational metrics the executive team runs on.
- The relationship with regulators and auditors, and representation of risk and operations at board level.
- Risk and compliance built into the product and the commercial conversation, rather than applied afterwards.
What you will bring
- Senior risk, compliance or operations leadership in a regulated financial services or payments business.
- Hands-on regulatory licensing experience you have held yourself, ideally taking a business into a new international market.
- AML and CTF depth.
- Operations ownership alongside compliance, and scale-up experience where the structure did not already exist.
- Applied AI or machine learning inside compliance or operations, with a stated outcome.
